DEVELOPING AND DELIVERING EFFECTIVE APPROACHES TO PROTECTING CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE IN NORTHERN IRELAND AND LEARNING FROM ELSEWHERE IN THE UK AND IRELAND
  Action not words : How do we make most effective progress to safeguard all our children and young people?
  What are Government's agenda and expectations?
  What are public perceptions of child safety and abuse and experiences on reporting child abuse?
  How do we ensure we place children and young people at the centre of policy and their needs are fully met?
  How is Children First being delivered in straightened economic times in the Republic?
  What lessons can be drawn from progress in the Republic?
  How do we ensure physical and mental health needs of all our children are fully met?
  How do we ensure any abuse is identified early and tackled comprehensively?
  How best do we protect, support and safeguard vulnerable children in and out of school?
  How best should we protect, support and safeguard them in sport and leisure activities?
  How can the police best keep vulnerable children and young people from both abuse and crime?
  How can the youth justice system support those involved in justice proceedings and prevent re-offending?
  How can we deliver a multi-agency service to tackle exploitation and abuse of children and young people?
  What are the hopes for the future with the new Northern Ireland Safeguarding Board?
  Where can we hope to be in 10 years time?

This CPPS seminar brings together key figures from across sectors in the important debate on how best to safeguard vulnerable children and young people. How do we develop and deliver the most effective approaches both in Northern Ireland and across the UK and Ireland and learn from experience and best practice across all services in all five jurisdictions?
The day encourages brief, focused presentations followed by engaged discussion by all attending in a relaxed setting. It is hoped that it will make a valuable contribution to taking forward the issues.
