ELCOME TO THE CENTRE FOR PUBLIC POLICY SEMINARS

LEADING THE WAY IN UK PUBLIC POLICY DEBATE

CPPS is a wholly independent organisation, based at Hebden Bridge in Pennine West Yorkshire, that designs, organises and delivers seminars on current developments in a broad range of UK Public Policy, generally in association with Government Departments. We aim for all of our events to be at the cutting edge, to be as timely as possible and to be of the highest quality and value.

Our work is steered by an eminent Advisory Council, chaired by leading figures from the two main political parties Lord Toby Harris (Labour) and Graham Mather (Conservative). Its members are senior people drawn from all parts of public life: government, local government, health, education and criminal justice, and from the private and third sectors.

SEMINARS AND EVENTS

CPPS currently runs seminars in London, Edinburgh, Belfast, Leeds and Manchester.

Topics range across a broad spectrum of domestic public policy, with recent seminars tackling subjects as diverse as Restoring Trust in Politics and Law, Safeguarding Children, the Waste Crisis, Extremism and Radicalisation, Whistleblowing, Culture and Regeneration, Social Enterprise and Dementia.

Contributors range from Cabinet Ministers, and their Shadows, to senior public servants, heads of pressure groups and private companies, and local community organisations such as Mothers against Violence

All seminars devote a substantial amount of time to both table and open discussion, so as to enable maximum participation and engagement.

The majority of our seminars are wholly self-financing, which avoids any slant or bias.  Topics are suggested by members of our Advisory Council, who generally chair the events. Other seminars may be commissioned by a range of organisations, including Government Departments, Agencies and Regulators.

We also run a number of workshops and masterclasses on topics of current public policy importance.

We hope that all our events provide an effective platform for discussing crucial issues of the day and for networking, and that they make some modest contribution to the development of policy and practice.
